St Matthew`s Church, Hayfield
Complete Baptisms from Bishops Transcripts
My thanks to Rowena Clarke & Tom Abbotts for transcribing these Bishops Transcripts. This has involved many many hours of work & where the copy was impossible to read they have looked at the Parish Registers - which are also in a very poor state. See Rowena`s note on the transcript. I have now checked against the register and added information missing in BTs. I have changed the spelling of many names & addresses to those shown in the register. Also the dates. There is a particular anomaly in the period 1738 - 40. The BT has a group of baptisms that do not appear in the register.
