All Saints Church Glossop
The church, which is dedicated to All Saints, is an ancient structure: the body has been rebuilt, and public worship was performed in it, for the first time after the repairs were completed, in September 1832. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the patronage of the Duke of Norfolk, and incumbency of the Rev. Christopher Howe. In the church is a monument, by Bacon, to the memory of Joseph Hague Esq. of Park Hall, near Hayfield, who bequeathed the interest of £1,000, towards clothing twenty four poor men and women, of this and some of the adjacent townships. My thanks to Glossop Local History Society for allowing me to use their transcript of the registers. These were then checked against the originals. There are large gaps in the registers so many original entries must be missing. I have recently found a large tranche of entries in a different register which are not on the transcript. I have entered these in blue. It is probable that other missing entries will be on the Bishops Transcripts.
