At the end of District 16 of the 1841 census, the enumerator has accounted for the increase since the previous census as "Contractors and Excavators belonging to the Glossop branch of the Sheffield and Manchester Railway. Increase 80 males 25 females."

Much of the information on the 1841 census is very difficult to read and this particularly applies to District 15. Where I have been unsure I have put a question mark. Where it was illegible I have put dots. Please do check the film for yourselves - you may interpret the data differently.
